“挤”和“拥挤”可以指crowded, as if the crowd is "squeezed" together:

• 这么小的教室里放三十张桌子，太挤／拥挤（crowded）了！
• 请先下后上，不要拥挤／挤（don't crowd, don't push）。 

不同的地方：

1. “挤”可以指to squeeze：

• 挤牙膏 squeeze the toothpaste

2. “挤”一般指squeeze in, cram in的动作

• 坐车的人太多了，我挤（squeeze, cram）了半天才挤上车。
• 为了买到票，我挤（crammed）得满头大汗！

3. “道路”、“交通”、“人群”等通常与“拥挤”一起使用：

• 交通拥挤（交通挤 ✗）
• 人群拥挤（人群挤 ✗）
• 道路拥挤（道路挤 ✗）
